The Church: God's Kingdom on Earth
Christ said He would build His church, and He has built His church. And the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. But the church is under attack today. It is under attack from outside forces, who are mustering every energy to marginalize, and to silence, that which Christ is building. It is under attack from the inside, too. We live in an era where the things that the Bible has prescribed, and the things that God has commanded, are no longer considered sufficient. Times have changed, many are saying, and the church must change with them if we are to continue to be relevant. But no, Christ is building His church. It is His church, not ours, and He reserves the right to build it as He sees fit. The church is a divine institution. It is filled with sinners, but it is God-ordained, and Christ has purchased it with His own blood and is building it His way.
With that in mind, and seeking to know the mind of Christ and His plans for the church as informed by the Bible, the 2008 Quakertown Regional Conference on Reformed Theology is addressing the subject of the church. We want to proclaim what Christ proclaims about His church. This is our first conference, and what better subject to begin with than the church? What is the nature of Christs church? What are the marks of the church? What is the unity of the church? How is ministry in the church to be done? And what is the future of the church? Through five plenary sessions and three Saturday afternoon seminar options, the subject of Christs church will be thoroughly addressed.
